Last year we won Tool Klean’s giveaway for two anti-microbial hot cups! We’ve been eyeing this company and their products since we first learned about them at Groom Expo West (2020). Tool Klean is a woman owned and operated business since 2017. The company came up with creative and innovative products for salons and in homes that were fast and convenient to kill germs and bacteria in air, on tools, and surfaces. The products range from hot cups, wands, tabletop lamps, to an oven all using UV Light disinfection technology.
Let’s talk about hot cups. For mobile groomers who are always on the go, the hot cups is easy to use and have been a game changer for cleaning and sterilizing our grooming tools between each of our clients. The hot cups are the perfect size for our grooming truck due to the small and limited space we have. Tool Klean’s Hot Cups are lightweight, portable, and perfect for small tasks. They come in three different colors: white, purple, and pink! The hot cup features an aluminum interior pot that generates heat with heat-conducting glass beads that reach temperature to 212 degrees F (boil water temperature) which immediately kills the bacteria on the spot. Place the glass beads into the hot cups and turn the switch on. The hot cups takes about 10 - 15 minutes to warm up before usage. Once it’s ready, place your items into the hot cups for disinfection. The hot cup appliance should only be used on metal objects. We place scissors and combs in the hot cups as we drive to our next client's home with no mess because the hot cup has a spilled resistant top. By the time we arrive to our next destination, our tools are clean and ready to be used! The disinfecting process takes about 3-5 minutes to do the job.

For maintenance, clean the hot cups with a a soft dry cloth and do not use water or wipes. Glass beads can be cleaned by rinsing in warm water in a fine mesh strainer. Dry the glass beads thoroughly before placing them back into the hot cup. Glass beads should be checked and replaced every 6 months.
We definitely feel more at ease knowing our grooming tools are always disinfected and ready to use! Proper sanitary protocols is now even more important than ever to stay on top of cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
