Here is a fun infographic to break it down (image credit to SuperZoo):
This was my first time and I was blown away by how HUGE the event was. The first two days I took grooming seminars with professional groomers from around the world. Every groomer has their own style, technique and skill sets to bring to the table. I love how these seminars are inspirational, fun, educational, and something all groomers can relate and bring back home to implement into their own grooming. I've been grooming less than a year, so I have a lot to grow and learn from!
The last two days I used my time to shop, network, and learn what is happening in the pet industry. I was able to see all my favorite vendors and took home some cute souvenirs. I was fortunate to win a new Rose Gold Chromado Lithium Clipper from a raffle and see professional dog groomers, Jay Scruggs and Sue Zecco work their magic! I came across a booth called Lumo that quickly caught my interest. Lumo is a new tool that dematts, brushes, and gets rid of the undercoat quickly. There's a quick release button at the top that pops the fur right out! No more hassle with using a comb to slide through the brushes to get rid of all the hair. I can't wait to try it on my clients and cut my work time in half! As a groomer, I am always looking for better ways to work efficiently, faster, and definitely less tools to carry around. Overtime, some of the equipment and repetitive motions in the wrists and hands can be extremely tiresome. A common injury for dog groomers is hand tendonitis and carpel tunnel. With better tools and practices implemented, it will save a groomer’s hands in the long run!
The dog grooming competitions are always a pleasure to watch. Perhaps one day I will have the courage to participate in the first time groomer competition. But first, more practice! As always, thank you Kevin for being one of my biggest supporter and the love of my life for accompanying me all week long. We look forward to next year’s SuperZoo!
